Gab AI uses a credit-based system for accessing third-party AI models like GPT-5.6, Claude, and Gemini. Credits allow you to pay only for what you use while getting access to the best models available.
Our default AI model is free for Plus subscribers when chatting in Gab AI. Not included in API — API requests always use credits.
Plus subscribers receive 2,000 credits every month as part of their subscription. This is typically enough for: Monthly credits reset at the start of each billing cycle. Unused credits do not roll over to the next month.

Different models use different amounts of credits based on their capabilities:
Credit costs can vary based on message length, image quality settings, and other factors. The ranges shown are typical usage per request.
As your conversation grows longer, credit costs per message increase. Each new message requires the AI to re-read the conversation history, and models bill that context in increments — for most models, every ~20,000 tokens of history adds another base charge. Longer conversations mean more data to process, which increases the computational cost. Some models have larger context thresholds (50,000-60,000 tokens), so their costs stay flat for longer.
To keep credit costs low, start a new chat when switching topics or beginning a new task. This resets the context and brings your costs back to baseline. You can always reference previous conversations if needed.
If you need more credits than your monthly allowance, you can purchase additional credit packs. Purchased credits never expire. To purchase credits, go to Settings → Credits in the app, or visit the Pricing page on our website.

Never run out of credits mid-conversation. Auto Top-Up automatically purchases credits when your balance gets low, ensuring uninterrupted access to premium AI models. Configure Auto Top-Up in Settings → Credits. You can customize: You'll receive an email notification each time Auto Top-Up is triggered. You can disable Auto Top-Up at any time in your settings. It will also automatically disable after 3 consecutive payment failures.
