Review the file and ask for a focused change
Inspect the actual output before using it
Work can return files and interactive outputs as well as conversation text. Open the intended artifact, inspect its content and choose the relevant editor/viewer. The supported controls depend on file type, client and permissions.
Open the delivered file and check its version
Select the output’s file card. Confirm its name, type and version before editing. A completed task can contain intermediate files and later revisions; inspect the artifact you actually intend to use. The artifact list and Files are entry points, not evidence that every file is correct.
Find the editor for your file
Use the linked reference for the file type you need. Documents, spreadsheets and slides have different structures and controls; code and other files may open in a viewer.
Choose the result and a useful check

Native structure in the checked document
Work creates editable paragraphs and a Word table. This proposal keeps the workshop’s costs, proposed income and remaining budget together, then updates the introduction to match a revised comparison.
Direct edits and conversational revisions
Use direct controls where offered for that artifact and client. In other contexts, an output can be a preview or source viewer. Ask Work for a focused revision when appropriate, identifying the file, target and preservation checks. Inspect the returned content; do not assume a changed card name means the requested change was made.
Revisions and version history
Keep an identifiable original when comparing changes. When a newer artifact revision is available, confirm which version is open and whether a local edit needs saving first. Use available history/revision controls deliberately; recheck facts, formulas and nearby explanation in the current version.
Save an edit and reopen the file
After a direct edit, wait for its save state and reopen the same file from its supported entry. Inspect the specific change and retain an original when comparing versions.
Use the format your next step needs
Choose an offered in-app export format and open the resulting file in its intended client. Check the text, formulas, objects or fixed pages that matter to your task. Keep the editable original when a round trip could change the result.
File creation and public-site publication
Creating an HTML or site artifact does not automatically authorize public publication. Review the content and the separate publishing flow before making a site public.
Work, permissions and credit usage
Work requires Plus and uses applicable model/tool credits. Local project access, connected services, editing and cloud output have separate client and permission requirements. Generating or revising a file can add usage; there is no universal price per artifact or exported page.
When an output or edit is missing
Check the current task and correct artifact/version first. If you received only prose, request the actual file. If opening, saving or exporting fails, preserve the original, inspect the reported state and provide the task/error details without secrets. Do not overwrite your only working copy to test an uncertain conversion.

Are all Work output cards editable files?
Controls depend on output type and client. Some cards open editors; others open a viewer or preview. Inspect the actual output and relevant reference before assuming direct editing.
Does an artifact revision replace my original automatically?
Check the actual file/version and available revision/history controls. Keep an identifiable original when preservation or comparison matters.
Does creating an HTML artifact publish a public website?
No. Public publication is a separate action and flow. Review the content and sharing destination before choosing to publish.
Is a successful export the same as checked compatibility?
Inspect the exported file in the intended client. Opening, saving and exporting are separate from verifying its contents, calculations, objects or formatting.
