Windows app

Install Gab AI from the Microsoft Store, use Chat and Work, connect PC project folders, and pair your phone with Remote.

Gab AI on your Windows PC

Gab AI is available as a native Windows app from the Microsoft Store. Chat with leading AI models, explore Bots, create images, video, and music, and keep your conversations and files together. Sign in with your existing Gab AI account to use the same conversations, plan, and credit balance across Windows, Mac, your phone, and the web.

Before you begin

Install and sign in

  1. Open the Microsoft Store listing — Use the download link below. Confirm the app is Gab AI and the publisher is Gab AI, Inc. If the website offers to open Microsoft Store, continue there to install.
  2. Install Gab AI — Choose the install or get button offered by Microsoft Store, wait for installation to finish, then launch Gab AI from the Store or the Windows Start menu.
  3. Sign in with your existing account — Use the same Gab AI account you use on the web or another device. Your conversations, plan, and credit balance belong to that account. Create an account if you are new to Gab AI.

Get the Windows app

Start a conversation or a Work task

Open a new Chat, choose a model or Auto, and send your first prompt. Explore the available media tools for images, videos or music. For a multi-step project, select Work and describe the result you want, then review its files. Work requires a plan with Work access and credits. Cloud Work runs on Gab AI’s servers and does not automatically gain access to your PC. Use Projects to connect local files as described below. Follow the controls and availability messages in your installed Windows app; advanced local tools require compatible app and service support.

Connect a project folder on your PC

Open Projects → New project. Enter a name, choose Choose source folder, select an existing folder in the Windows picker and choose Create project. Open the project for a local Work chat, or Files for browsing, search, editing and project settings. Selecting a folder saves a connection without uploading the whole folder or sending a task. Check Read only or Read & write in the project settings. Set project read/write and Make read only control the editor, Git and new tasks. Existing tasks retain their granted access. Keep this PC awake, online and Gab AI open while Work needs local files; files the agent reads are sent to Gab AI.

Continue PC projects from your phone

Open Projects → Remote access to name the PC, review shared folders and enable Remote. Choose Pair a phone, scan the QR code with your phone’s Camera, sign in to the same Gab AI account and approve matching verification codes on the PC. Open Remote or Settings → Remote projects on iOS or Android to continue available shared project chats. Read-only restrictions apply on both devices. Keep the PC awake and Gab AI running. Remote is shared project Work, not a screen-sharing session. The Remote guide covers both Windows and Mac host controls.

Local file history and coding controls

The project menu provides File history in, Save recovery in and Agent save recovery in where supported. Review retained versions or interrupted saves using the original account and task permissions. Recovery is separate from Git and cannot undo every command or external edit. Terminal opens a manual PowerShell session in the project folder. Agent-run commands have separate Command access controls on compatible builds; file editing alone does not grant them. Use the local coding guide’s Windows steps. Mac browser/app-control permissions, managed-worktree instructions and Sparkle updater steps are specific to Mac.

Voice and dictation

Compatible Windows builds offer voice conversation in Chat and dictation into a message draft. Allow microphone access when asked and review dictated text before sending. Voice conversation requires the relevant plan and credits; Work uses dictation rather than a live voice call. Windows voice is audio-only; camera and screen context are web features. Follow any update or availability message in your installed app.

Keep the app updated

The Microsoft Store manages updates for the Windows app. Keep Store app updates enabled, or open Microsoft Store and check its Downloads or Library area for updates. Close and reopen Gab AI after an update when needed.

If something goes wrong

If installation is unavailable, check the Store listing for your Windows version, device, and region. If chats or credits appear to be missing, confirm you signed in to the same Gab AI account. For connection problems, check your internet connection and reopen the app. You can also use gab.ai in your browser while troubleshooting.
