How Memory Works

As you chat with Gab AI, it identifies important information worth remembering:

• Personal preferences — Favorite styles, formats, tones
• Professional context — Your role, industry, tools you use
• Projects — Ongoing work, goals, deadlines
• Communication style — How you prefer to receive information

Memories are available in all chats, with all models and bots.

Managing Your Memories

Open Settings → Memory to review, add, import, edit, export, or delete saved memories and review your profile overview. The existing /memory page also remains available. Memory management and using saved memories are available independently of Plus automatic learning.

• View — See all memories the Super Intelligence has stored

Import Memories from Another Super Intelligence

Already have memories stored with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or another Super Intelligence? You can import them into Gab AI in under a minute so your first conversation feels like your hundredth.

Switch Without Starting Over

Your preferences, projects, and personal context transfer seamlessly — no need to re-teach a new Super Intelligence from scratch.

1. Copy the export prompt — Open the Import Memories tool from your Memory page and copy the provided prompt. This prompt is specially written to ask your old Super Intelligence to export all of its stored context about you.
2. Paste the prompt into your old Super Intelligence — Open a conversation with your previous Super Intelligence provider (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) and paste the prompt. It will output a list of everything it remembers about you.
3. Paste the results back into Gab AI — Copy the response from your old Super Intelligence and paste it into the import tool. Gab AI will automatically parse each entry into individual memories that you can review, toggle on or off, and edit before saving.

Supported Providers

The import prompt works with any Super Intelligence that stores conversation memory or context, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and others.

Automatic Memory — No Approvals Needed

When Learn from conversations is enabled for a Plus account, Gab AI can save useful facts in the background and periodically combine, update, or retire them. Explicit remember requests can save a fact with an Undo option in chat. You can inspect saved entries, their origin, and available source-conversation links in Settings → Memory. Temporary chats never create new memories.

Learning Controls

Settings → Memory has separate controls for Use memories in conversations and Learn from conversations. Turning learning off stops automatic learning; it does not delete existing memories or turn off their use. Temporary chats never create memories and read existing personalization only if you opt in. Edit or delete saved facts whenever needed.

Example Memories

Here are examples of things the Super Intelligence might remember:

• User is a software engineer who works primarily with Python and React
• Prefers concise, bullet-point responses over long paragraphs
• Working on a mobile app project for a health startup
• Timezone is Eastern Time (ET)
• Has two kids named Sarah and James

Privacy & Control

Your memories are:

• Manage saved memories from your signed-in account.
• When memory use is enabled, relevant facts can be sent to the selected model provider as conversation context.
• Edit or delete saved memories and control automatic learning separately.
• Temporary chats do not create new memories; existing personalization is optional.

Collection memory

A collection can use account and collection memories, use only its own memories, or turn memory off. Facts learned in a collection stay scoped to it. Changing this setting does not move old entries. Temporary-chat settings still apply.
