Work Games: Preview, Source and Revisions
Open a browser game in Work, switch between play and feedback, and check a revised rule. Find HTML preview, source, restart and sharing controls.
HTML game artifacts and their controls
This reference covers a browser-game file produced in Work, rather than a general game engine or native/mobile build pipeline. The lesson contains the complete actual Cedar Star Trail original and revision.
Open and play the delivered file
Select its output card and Preview. Give the game focus for keyboard input. The preview’s selection/highlight modes are for feedback; leave them to play. Restart preview reloads a stale/blank frame; it is different from the game’s own Restart button.
Source and feedback controls
Code displays the HTML source; Changes depends on an earlier source being available. Select targets an element and Highlight marks an area for a request. Ask for changes prepares feedback; review the target and instructions before sending. Static text editing is different from changing game state or logic.
Check a complete loop and its revision
Cedar Star Trail’s actual original wins at three stars; its revision wins at two while retaining the hazard and controls. Use explicit routes and observable state to check changes.
Observed route checks
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Start and boundaries | Start at (1,1), score 0. North or West at that corner leaves the player in place. |
| Collect once | East, East reaches (3,1), score 1. West, East revisits it without another point. |
| Original win | East, East, South, South, West, West collects all three stars and wins. |
| Loss and frozen state | East, South enters the center hazard. Further movement stays frozen until Restart. |
| Revision | The revised goal is any two existing stars. East, East, South, South now wins at (3,3), with the third star still on the board. |
Preview, file export and public hosting
A working private preview is not a public site or a separately checked exported file. Use in-app file actions when needed, inspect the intended result and review publication separately.
Access and usage
Creating and revising in Work requires Plus and applicable credits. Model/media operations and follow-ups can add usage. Active-session capacity, hourly new-task launches and account credits are separate. Inspect current options and Usage; there is no fixed price for a game, image or finished film.
Game reference questions
Inspect the actual game version.
Why do arrow keys do nothing in my game?
Focus the game preview and leave Select/Highlight mode. Then check the actual game controls and report reproduction steps if movement still fails.
Is Restart preview the same as restarting a game?
Restart preview reloads the preview frame. A game’s Restart control should reset its own state without requiring a reload; test that behavior.
